Ratan Tata will: Ratan Tata, the legendary former boss of the Tata Group, who passed away in October last year, was arguably one of the most beloved industrialist, primarily for his humble nature and philanthropy. But apart from his love for humanity, Ratan Tata was also an animal lover who was know for his deep affection of animals, and found companionship in his pets as chose to remain a lifelong bachelor.

According to reports, Ratan Tata has allocated Rs 12 lakh for Tito, whose care has been assigned to Tata’s cook, Rajan Shaw. As per Ratan Tata’s will, Tito will remain under Shaw’s care, and Rs 30,000 will be disbursed for the canine’s care every quarter.

Ratan Tata’s affection for animals
Ratan Tata’s love for animals, especially dogs is a well-documented fact, as is his commitment to animal welfare, which is evident from his various initiatives in that direction, including the establishment of India’s first Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai in 2023, which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, such as ICUs, HDUs, CT scan, X-ray, and MRI.

A famous instance showcasing the affection he had for his pets was witnessed when Ratan Tata skipped an award ceremony hosted by King Charles, and chose to stay at home to take care of one of his pet dogs, which was unwell. Tata was to receive an award for his philanthropy at the event.
Upon learning about why Ratan Tata has decided to skip the event, Prince Charles had reportedly remarked, “That’s a man. That’s the man Ratan is. That’s why the house of Tata is what it is.”

Notably, Ratan Tata, famed for his philanthropy and humble nature, left most of his wealth, including his substantial shareholding in Tata Sons– the holding company of the Tata Group– to various charitable causes. Additionally, Tata’s will also included provisions for his family, staff, close friends, and his beloved pets.
Ratan Tata, the legendary Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, passed away at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on October 9, 2024. He was 86.
Tata had finalised his last will on February 23, 2022.
