Isha Ambani, the daughter of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, and Nita Ambani, was draped in an elegant gold embroidered lehenga worth a whopping Rs 90 crore at her lavish Rs 700 crore wedding with Anand Piramal, while her sister-in-law, Shloka Mehta, was also adorned in some of the costliest wedding lehengas at her nuptials with Isha’s brother Akash Ambani.

But did you know that neither Isha Ambani, nor Shloka Mehta hold the record for wearing the most expensive wedding dress in history? Yes, the distinction goes to the Diamond Wedding Dress designed by renowned bridal designer Renee Strauss and celebrity jeweler Martin Katz in 2006.

The ultra-opulent wedding gown, adorned with 150 carats worth of diamonds, was valued at a staggering $16.2 million (more than Rs 138 crore), and holds the distinction of being the most expensive wedding dress in history, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

According to details, the lavish ivory-white gown, made out of luxurious silk, was specifically created for the Luxury Brands Lifestyle Bridal Show, held at The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, California, in 2006.

The glittering white wedding gown, which shines bright in the daylight, is the most expensive wedding dress ever created, costlier than the Rs 90 gold and red lehenga worn by Isha Ambani at her 2019 wedding with Anand Piramal.

Notably, Isha Ambani still holds record for wearing the most expensive wedding attire, as the designer gown was not actually worn by anyone, and was only showcased at the 2006 bridal show.
