Mohini Mohan Dutta is an entrepreneur hailing from Jharkhand. He owned a travel agency called Stallion, which got merged with a subsidiary of the Taj Group of Hotels, Taj Services in the year 2013. As per a report by the Economic Times, Mohini Mohan Dutta was a close associate of Ratan Tata and was known to his family circles.
Who is Mohini Mohan Dutta?
Mohini Mohan Dutta and his family owned an 80% stake in Stallion, while the remaining 20% was held by the Tata Group then led by Ratan Tata. Notably, Tata’s close aide Dutta also served as a director at TC Travel Services, a former affiliate of Thomas Cook. The ET report also mentions that Mohan was an associate of Ratan Tata and was familiar within Tata family circles.
The report quoted sources within the Tata Group as saying that Dutta often described himself as being close to the Tata family. More notably, Dutta told the media that he first met Ratan Tata at the Dealers Hostel during Ratan Tata’s funeral in October 2024.
Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata dies at 86
Tata Group’s chairman emeritus and veteran industrialist Ratan Tata died at a Mumbai hospital last year in October. Tata, who led the salt-to-software conglomerate to new heights, was 86. A recipient of Padma Vibhushan, breathed his last at south Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at 11.30 pm. The billionaire was admitted to the hospital for the past few days.
In a statement, Tata’s family said, “We his brothers, sisters, and family take solace and comfort in the outpouring of love and respect from all who admired him. While he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations.”
