From Delhi to Mumbai, these high-rise buildings are examples of the country’s rapid growth and technological prowess. We all know that the tallest building on Earth is Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, but do you know about the tallest building in India?
The tallest building of India is located in the country’s commercial capital – Mumbai. The mega structure is located in Worli and is currently under construction. The 88-storey structure is an example of architectural and engineering accomplishments. This building’s design will stand out due to its large floor plates, averaging more than 8,700 square feet.
Completed in 2018, the 88-story Palais Royale Tower is a prominent Mumbai landmark, reaching a height of 320 meters (1,050 feet).
Two residential buildings in the area have surpassed the 300-meter height mark. Palais Royale is the second, following Minerva, a Lokhandwala Infrastructure project completed in 2023, which reaches 301 meters.
Not only that Palais Royale has been awarded the LEED Pre-certified Platinum rating which makes it the largest residential building in the country. Spread in over 3 million square feet, the building is developed by Honest Shelters Pvt Ltd and designed by Talati and Panthaky Associates.
The journey of the tallest building of India is full of turbulent journey. It was first auctioned in 2019 but no buyer turned up and showed interest. In mid-2019, the incomplete site was acquired by Honest Shelters Pvt Ltd for Rs 705 crore. The construction work was resumed in 2020 and reached near completion last year. The interiors and façade are set to be completed by 2025.
The building comprises two basement levels, two lobbies, seven parking levels, seven amenity floors, and 43 residential floors, beginning 270 feet above street level. It houses 153 ultra-luxury apartments, ranging in size from 8,000 to 14,000 square feet.
