Married to Mohammad Azharuddin
Actress Sangeeta Bijlani tied the knot with former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin in 1996 after being married for 14 years. She was in love with Salman. Born in 1960 in Mumbai, Sangeeta started her modeling career at the age of 16.
Bollywood debut
She was crowned Miss India in 1980 and represented the country at the Miss Universe pageant. She won the award for Best National Costume, but unfortunately could not make it to the top 12 finalists.
Quit acting
In 1988, Sangeeta made her Bollywood debut with Qatil opposite Aditya Pancholi. She starred in two successful films Tridev and Hathyar in 1989. She was part of films like Paap Ki Kamaee, Gunahon Ka Devta, Haatim Tai, Khoon Ka Karz, and Gunehgar Kaun.
Friend with Salman
She met Salman on the sets of a TV commercial in 1986 and they started dating. Their relationship lasted eight years and they were all set to get married on May 27, 1994.
Divorced
Their wedding cards got printed, but a month before the wedding, Sangeeta caught Salman cheating on her with Pakistani-American actress Somy Ali. She is now spotted with Salman at events and parties.
Unlucky in love
Bijlani started dating former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin after canceling her wedding with Salman. Azharuddin was married to Naureen Azharuddin and they had two sons. In 1996, he divorced Naureen and married Sangeeta who quit her career post-marriage. The two officially divorced each other in 2010 after 14 years reportedly due to Azharuddin’s alleged relationship with Indian badminton player Jwala Gutta.
