Who are the Hunza?
An indigenous group known for their distinctive, self-sufficient, and agricultural lifestyle, the Hunza, also known as the Hunzukuch or Burusho people, live in the Yasin, Hunza, and Nagar valleys of northern Pakistan.
The Hunza women reportedly have an abnormally long lifespan, which can extend to over 150 years. A famous incident that was widely reported in the global media mentions that a person named Abdul Mobat turned turned up at London’s Heathrow Airport in 1984, whose passport reportedly mentioned his year of birth as 1832, making him 152 years old.
At first, puzzled security officials thought that it might be an error, but after thorough investigation, they shockingly discovered that Abdul Mobat, the man standing in front of them, was indeed 152 years old. Mobat reportedly belonged to Pakistan’s Hunza community.
Cancer-free population
According to various reports, another trait unique to the Hunza people is that their entire population is completely cancer-free, which contributes to them being the longest-living, healthiest, and happiest community on earth. Reports claim that there is no documented case of any Hunza ever being diagnosed with, or dying from cancer.
Additionally, reports also claim that Hunza women can give birth even at the advanced age of 65.
What’s the secret of Hunza longevity?
There is no miracle or magical blessing behind the longevity and healthy lives of the Hunza people. The secret, scientists say, lies in the community’s dietary habits and healthy lifestyle. The Hunza diet revolves around apricots and walnuts, which are consumed in large quantities. This reduces the risk of cancer, allowing the Hunza to live long and healthy lives.
Hunza women look youthful even in old age
As per reports, Hunza people, especially the women, look youthful even in their advanced age. According to experts, the healthy lifestyle of the Hunza help them stay young till they are well over 60 or more. Interestingly, the Hunza do not eat solid food for 2 to 3 months in a year, and consume only fruit juices during that period.
Additionally, the Hunza often take long walks, and their diet is filled with fruits, raw vegetables, dry fruits, milk and eggs.
