Sonu Nigam lashes out at schoolboy who screamed at him to sing in Kannada: ‘Pahalgam mein jo hua…’
A video of popular bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam has been revolving on the internet where he’s been seen scolding a school boy for rudely asking him to sing in Kannada
In a video circulating online, popular singer Sonu Nigam can be seen losing his cool on a school boy during his show who demanded he sing a Kannada song. The video was recorded while the singer was performing for a college fest in Bengaluru. In the video, Sonu Nigam says, “I have sung songs in all languages. But the best songs that I have sung in my life are Kannada songs. Whenever I come among you, I come with great love. We do shows every day, but whenever we have shows in Karnataka, we come with great respect because you people have considered us your family.”
Later, he explained that he felt “threatened” as the fan demanded the song in a very rude manner. The veteran singer said, “I didn’t like it when a boy, not even of that age, was so rude and threatening, saying ‘Kannada, Kannada’. Is this why things happened in Pahalgam? Is this why things happen the way they do? I love Kannadigas, I love you guys. Wherever I go in the world, I always say…in a crowd of 14,000, if one voice says ‘Kannada’, I sing a few lines in Kannada for that one person. I have so much respect for you, so much love. So, you should behave a little better, not like this.”
Some reports claimed that during Sonu Nigam’s recent show at Delhi Technological University’s Engifest 2025 (DTU), stones and water bottles were pelted at him. Clarifying this, the singer took to the social media platform Instagram and wrote, “Nothing like hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU. There was one Vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar’s chest and that’s when I was informed about it. I paused the show and requested and reminded the collegians that the show will have to be abruptly stopped if something like that happened again. The only thing hurled on stage after that, was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie,” putting an end to all the pelting speculations.
