Reese Witherspoon has revealed the first look at Lexi Minetree as the young Elle in Elle, Amazon Prime Video’s much-anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series.

Witherspoon announced the news on Instagram, writing, “Harvard was hard. High school was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!” The series, which recently began filming, will explore Elle Woods’ high school years and the experiences that shaped her into the bold, pink-loving legal icon from Legally Blonde.
Lexi Minetree, announced as the lead in February, takes on her first major role as Elle Woods. She has previously appeared in Law & Order: SVU, The Murdaugh Murders, Crowdsource Murder, and The Paramedic Who Stalked Me.
Tom Everett Scott and June Diane Raphael join the cast as Elle’s parents.
The series is created by Laura Kittrell, who serves as co-showrunner with Caroline Dries. Both are executive producers alongside Marc Platt and Reese Witherspoon, whose Hello Sunshine banner is producing the project. Amazon MGM greenlit the series in May 2024.
Released in 2001, Legally Blonde was directed by Robert Luketic and written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, based on Amanda Brown’s book. The film was a defining moment in Reese Witherspoon’s career, following her standout roles in Cruel Intentions and Election. She reprised her role in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003), and the franchise later inspired a Broadway musical in 2007.
