Iconic eatery of Mumbai called Mysore Cafe has been serving delicious South Indian Dishes since 1936. Though the cafe itself is legendary, very few know the story of the woman behind it and her connection with India’s richest family the Ambanis.
Ambanis Favourite Mysore Cafe
The Ambanis’ connection to Mysore Cafe has been there for many years. Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man, used to visit eateries during his college days at UDCT (now ICT) between 1974 and 1979. This nostalgic bond is still alive and every Sunday, Mysore Cafe meals have been sent at the Ambani home Antilia.
During the recent high-profile wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchantshe was invited by the Ambani family. A viral video of Anant taking Radhika towards Shanteri Nayak, to introduce her to the former owner of Mysore Cafe. Radhika greets her, saying, “Every Sunday, we enjoy your food at home.” and Anant adds “It’s only because of you that we get to relish such delicious meals.”
Also joining them in the interaction were Anand Piramal and Shloka Mehta, who also greeted Shanteri.
It was founded in 1936, Mysore Cafe in Mumbai, known for its authentic South Indian cuisine. It has also attracted many other celebrities, politicians, and business tycoons. Now Shanteri Nayak’s son, Naresh Nayak, has been handling the family’s years old business.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding celebrations held in July at Jio World Drive in Mumbai. Many world leaders, celebrities, politicians attended the wedding.
After the wedding, the Ambani family hosted a special reception on July 15 for their domestic staff and Reliance employees. Addressing the gathering, Mukesh Ambani said, “Most importantly, I hope your blessings and well wishes remain with Radhika and Anant as they embark on this beautiful journey to start their new life and build their family.”
