Unlike their billionaire brother – Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani, they don’t seek the limelight as often, but they have played important roles in their own spheres.

When it comes to the business world, some names always remain in the spotlight—one such name is the Ambani family. Mukesh Ambani, the richest businessman in India, and his family often make headlines for various reasons. From their business empire to grand celebrations and even their fashion choices, people are always curious about them. However, despite their fame, not many people know about Mukesh Ambani’s sisters. Yes, apart from his younger brother Anil Ambani, Mukesh Ambani has two sisters—Nina Kothari and Dipti Salgaocar. Unlike their billionaire brother, they don’t seek the limelight as often, but they have played important roles in their own spheres.
Neena Kothari: A successful businesswoman
Nina Kothari and Dipti Salgaocar are often spotted at family gatherings and major events of the Ambani clan. Recently, they attended Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebrations.
Nina Kothari, the elder daughter of Dhirubhai and Kokilaben Ambani, has built her own path in the business world. She was married to businessman Bhadrashyam Kothari in 1986. Sadly, he passed away in 2015 due to cancer. After his passing, Nina took over as the chairperson of Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Ltd, leading the company forward.
However, this was not her first venture into entrepreneurship. Back in 2003, she launched Javagreen, a coffee chain that served snacks, sandwiches, and beverages. Although the venture eventually closed, Nina remained active in the business world. Over the years, she has expanded the Kothari Group by adding two more companies—Kothari Petrochemicals and Kothari Safe Deposits Ltd.
Nina and her late husband, Bhadrashyam Kothari, have two children—a son, Arjun Kothari, who currently serves as the Managing Director of Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Ltd, and a daughter, Nayantara Kothari.
Dipti Salgaocar: The youngest Ambani sibling
Dipti Salgaocar is the youngest daughter of Dhirubhai and Kokilaben Ambani. She pursued a law degree from V.M. Salgaocar College of Law and is now settled in Goa. Dipti is married to businessman Dattaraj Salgaocar, who has been a close friend of Mukesh and Anil Ambani since childhood. The couple has two children—a son, Vikram, and a daughter, Ishita.
A love story rooted in friendship
Back in 1978, the Ambani family lived on the 22nd floor of the Usha Kiran building in Mumbai. Meanwhile, businessman Vasudev Salgaocar and his family resided on the 14th floor. Over time, Dhirubhai Ambani and Vasudev Salgaocar developed a strong friendship. After Vasudev’s passing, Dhirubhai became a mentor and father figure to his son Dattaraj.
Growing up together, Dattaraj, Mukesh, and Anil formed a close bond, often spending time together. During this time, Dipti and Dattaraj fell in love. After five years of being in a relationship, the couple tied the knot on December 31, 1983.
Preserving Goa’s Art and Culture
Dattaraj Salgaocar is now the Managing Director of V.M. Salgaocar & Bro. Pvt. Ltd., carrying forward his late father’s legacy. Dipti and Dattaraj together run a non-profit arts initiative called Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts. This organization supports local artists by providing exhibition space, financial aid, and resources to help them flourish.
The couple owns a beautiful home in Dona Paula, near Panaji, Goa. Though Nina Kothari and Dipti Salgaocar often attend Ambani family celebrations, they prefer to keep their personal lives private.
