Prime Video has announced that the critically acclaimed American miniseries Fellow Travelers will premiere in India on April 17. The period drama, which has already garnered praise internationally, is created by Ron Nyswaner and features direction from Uta Briesewitz, Destiny Ekaragha, James Kent, and Daniel Minahan.
Fellow Travelers to premiere in India on Prime Video from April 17
The series stars Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey in lead roles, supported by a strong ensemble cast that includes Jelani Alladin, Linus Roache, Noah J. Ricketts, and Allison Williams. Fellow Travelers is a sweeping narrative that blends political intrigue with an emotional love story. Set in McCarthy-era Washington, the miniseries follows the clandestine romance between Hawkins Fuller (played by Bomer), a suave political operative who steers clear of emotional attachments, and Tim Laughlin (played by Bailey), an idealistic young man grounded in faith and optimism.
Their bond begins just as Senator Joseph McCarthy and attorney Roy Cohn begin their campaign against “subversives and sexual deviants,” setting off one of the most oppressive chapters in 20th-century American history.
As the series unfolds over four decades, it chronicles how their personal and political lives intersect with pivotal moments in history. Viewers follow five central characters—Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Alladin), Lucy (Williams), and Frankie (Ricketts)—through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the hedonistic disco era of the 1970s, and the devastating AIDS crisis of the 1980s. The show explores how these characters evolve, struggle, and endure in a world where both societal and internal conflicts shape their identities and destinies. The series has been noted for its compelling storytelling, historical accuracy, and nuanced portrayal of queer identity against a turbulent political backdrop.
Fellow Travelers is co-produced by Fremantle and SHOWTIME and is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution. With its Indian debut set for April 17 on Prime Video, the miniseries brings to the platform a powerful story of love, resilience, and history’s inescapable influence on personal freedom.
