On the whole, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die is a well-made entertaining film. But lack of promotion is a dampener. Its original English version will fare better.

On the whole, BAD BOYS: RIDE OR DIE provides humour and action in ample doses. However, it’ll need a thumbs up from the target audience to excel at the box office.

There was a time when buddy cop comedies were a thing. Films evolve and time flies but Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah show how the theme can still be relevant if made well. With true-crime, cerebral sci-fi, biopics and long drawn series occupying our screen time of late, a nonsensical but supremely entertaining action comedy feels like a welcome detox.

The runtime of almost two hours makes it quite an interesting watch. The film doesn’t overburden you with never-ending action gimmicks, but lets you engross yourself in this getaway. It is a perfect summer watch for those who are looking to have a fun time at the movies.‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ will hit theatres in India on June 7.

The director duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah steer the narrative deftly as Miami’s finest “bad boys” become the most wanted men. They bank on the nostalgia that’s associated with the genre. Even though the film does not have many nail-biting moments, it offers the comfort of familiarity as the ‘same of more’ becomes the film’s USP. Not every gag works (some of the words have also been beeped out for the Indian audience), but the cop comedy underlines that the aging stars still have it in them as they go all gun blazing.

I wish Bad Boys: Ride or Die was a bit longer to truly sink your teeth into the characters. Vanessa’s character could have been explored a little more while Eric Dane’s James McGrath did not give me the baddie vibes. He just felt like another supporting actor in the film. I also wanted to see a little more of Jacob Scipio, maybe a little more banter between his character Armando and the ‘Bad Boys’Despite its shortcomings, Bad Boys: Ride or Die serves as a fun watch which is bound to leave you in splits and awe.
