Fathima Ismail, the mother of Malayalam superstar Mammootty, passed away at the age of 93 at a private hospital in Kochi on Friday, April 21. The news of her demise has left the entire Malayalam film industry and her fans in a state of shock.
Fathima had been suffering from age-related illnesses for a while, and her condition had been deteriorating in recent days. She was known for her âlady-next-doorâ image and was a popular figure in her village, Chembu, near Kochi.
Mammootty, who is her eldest son, along with his siblings, actor Ibrahim Kutty and Zakariah; and three daughters, Ameena, Sauda, and Shafeena, mourn her loss. Fathima’s grandson, actor Dulquer Salmaan, also expressed his grief over her passing on social media. The family has requested privacy during this difficult time. Fathima’s last rites will be performed at the Chembu Muslim Jamath Mosque at 4 pm on Friday, April 21.
